There is no charge for applying directly to study at the International College. Although there is no application deadline either, there are two reasons why we urge you to apply early:
- It is best to allow as much time as possible for your visa application. We can only provide a CAS letter for your visa on a completed application.
- We can only confirm your accommodation once the application is complete and your deposit is paid. Accommodation in one of our premium, single rooms is limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis.
English language ability
You will need to show proof of English language ability – usually an IELTS test (or equivalent). A higher IELTS score means your programme will be shorter and you can progress to the University of Brighton more quickly.
The UKBA specifies which exams are acceptable as a proof of English language ability for a UK study visa. A PDF list of the SELT’s (Secure English Language Tests) can be found here: Secure English Language Tests ![]()
Steps to apply
Step 1 – fill in the online application form
The most efficient way to apply is through our online application form. This 4-page form is quick to fill in. If you have any questions regarding the online application form please contact us and a Personal Education Advisor will be in touch to help you.
- Page 1 of the form will ask for personal details such as your name, email, nationality and address
- Page 2 of the form will ask you to specify your course requirements – for example, your subject, length of course and preferred start date. UK laws dictate that all international students have insurance for the duration of their studies. We will ask if you would like us to arrange insurance for you.
- On page 3 of the form we ask for your academic and English language experience and qualifications. It is very useful if you can upload certified English copies of your academic transcripts, SELT results, your passport and any additional references that might support your application to the form.
- On the final page of the form we will ask you to confirm if you have any special needs or disabilities. We will also ask you to agree to our Terms and Conditions. You will have the opportunity to opt out of future emails and newsletters at this point.
Step 2 – Offer letter
Within 2 working days of your application, you will be contacted by a Personal Education Planner who will let you know if we require any further documentation from you or if we are able to offer you a place at our college.
Any conditional or unconditional offers will be emailed to you.
Step 3 – Acceptance
If you choose to accept your offer to study at the International College, we will produce a CAS statement for your Visa on receipt of your course deposit. Details of deposit amounts and payment methods can be found on our terms and conditions page.
Step 4 – Arrival
You arrive in the UK and begin your preparation course at the International College!
