Nouman Sheikh, Pakistan

I wanted to study at Cass Business School at City University London, and I felt that taking a KIC London programme was a good way to bridge the gap from school study to university study. In Pakistan, Cass has a fantastic reputation. Many businessmen recommended the School to me and my family as one of the best places to study business in the world, and so it was an easy decision to come to KIC London. The application process was also very easy.

I had visited London several times before coming here to study, so I already knew I would like it. People are very welcoming and very nice here, and there is lots to do. It is a wonderfully compact city, so you have access to whatever you want easily at hand. I really enjoy living here. People are free to express themselves. It is a very entertaining city.

The best thing about KIC London is the way students are treated here. We are treated as equals, and our teachers aren’t strict. This is the main difference to learning in Pakistan. They expect us to study hard, and it is the case that we are able to get out of our study as much as we put into it. However, if we do have any problems the teachers are very good about taking time to help. They are always ready to help, and will take time over making sure we are ok.

The College assigns each student a Learning Support Tutor. They are really helpful with any problems you have. So far my time at KIC London has been problem free, but it is good to know that my Learning Support Tutor is there for me. This support is very useful.

By studying at KIC London I am getting to know about different cultures and different personalities. You learn about what is happening around the world and you learn to see things through other people’s perspectives. It is broadening my horizons and will definitely help me in business in the future.

KIC London is helping me to build a stronger base from which to launch my university studies. It will give me a head-start when I start at Cass Business School, and I feel I will surely have an edge over other students who haven’t had the benefit of studying at the College.

hope to one day take control of my father’s business. It was important to him that I learn the skills of business first, and City University London is definitely one of the best places to do this. Also, my undergraduate course at City takes just three years, which means I can return to Pakistan and start working with my father sooner than if I chose to study elsewhere.

I would recommend KIC London to international students who are keen to study at City University London or the University of Southampton. It is a very good way to prepare for these universities, and to be sure of progressing to the university equipped to do well. I would also advise international students that the opportunity to mix with people from so many cultures is a huge advantage of studying at the College. Studying at KIC London is not an easy life – you have to work hard to do well – but the teaching style and the lifestyle makes you more independent and so stronger as an individual.
