Need an extra term of maths & science (bridging modules)?

Engineering students, maths students or science students on a two-term Foundation Certificate in Science and Engineering course, can choose to take maths and science bridging modules for an extra term. This is ideal for students who:

  • Have lower than average scores in Mathematics and Science, and need to strengthen their subject knowledge
  • Have been out of full time education for more than a few months and would benefit from reviewing core curriculum
  • Are concerned they may struggle to achieve good results in the shorter two-term course

  • Wish to increase their chances of obtaining good results in their science or engineering studies

It is a 3 Term course where successful completion of Term 1 leads onto the traditional 2 Term Science and Engineering Foundation Certificate. Download the PDF for more information: Foundation Certificate in Science and Engineering (Maths and Science)

Student Story
Talal Ali Al-Bahri , LIC student

"I wanted to go to the University of Liverpool because it’s a prestigious and internationally respected university and because they offer a wide selection of degrees. I found out that if I did a Foundation certificate in Science and Engineering through Liverpool International College, it would give me a guaranteed entry into the university of my choice on successful completion.

I like the fact that the college is located on the university campus, which gives us the feel of university life. The campus itself is marvellous and big. My first impression of it was that it is well organised and green! I am enjoying my course very much and the lecture and seminars are really interesting. They are the best thing about the college as they based all over the campus which gives you the chance to discover the university and meet new people. The classes have a small number of students which allows more interaction with the tutors and individual help. My course is also helping me prepare for my degree, which I think is a vital aspect and it is helping me develop my mathematics and science skills.

But apart from the academic side, LIC has a good social side and provides a lot of activities and events to interact with other students not on my course. I’m the vice president of Liverpool International College Society. I find LIC fun, exciting and unique and I am looking forward to starting my university experience with the University of Liverpool! "

Key Course Facts

Start date
Registration for the next course begins in March 2012.

Course length
Courses start at 2 terms, and can go up to 4.5 terms depending on your academic and English needs

Academic entry requirements
Entry to the Foundation Certificate requires you to have passed Grade 12 (or equivalent).

English language entry requirements
You will need to show proof of English language ability – usually an IELTS test (or equivalent Secure English Language Test – SELT). A higher IELTS score means your course will be shorter and you can progress to Liverpool University more quickly.
