Enhanced University Preparation

Liverpool International College is pleased to introduce a new course available from September 2011. Our Enhanced University Preparation courses are designed to improve your study skills and help you achieve highly across all areas of your course.

What does an enhanced university course involve?

An Enhanced University Preparation course is a 3-term course where the first term follows a new format. After completing the first term you will join term-2 of your chosen LIC course. On successful completion of this course to the required level, you will progress onto the University of Liverpool with the best possible preparation from the college. Below are the courses that offer Enhanced University Preparation:

The main purpose of this Enhanced University Preparation course is to allow you time to settle into the UK and familiarise yourself with the English education system. Your first term will focus particularly on skills such as goal setting, independent learning, research preparation, time management and exam techniques.

There are no exams in the first term, this gives you flexibility on when you can enrol at the college – a great relief if your visa is taking longer than expected to come through!

What are the benefits for you?

  • You will benefit from maximum exposure to the British education system, and emphasis on English language, study and subject skills, as well as on your personal development. This will improve your chance of successfully completing your undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Liverpool.
  • You will not need to go back to your home country to renew your student visa at the end of your preparation course; this can be done in the UK, saving you time and money!
  • You have the flexibility to enrol later – this gives you greater peace of mind if your student visa, academic results or SELT results are delayed.

How do I qualify for this course?

  • If you are doing a Foundation Certificate you will need an IELTS English level of 5.5 with no less than 4.5 in any skill
  • If you are doing a Graduate Diploma you will need an IELTS English level of 5.5 with no less than 5.5 in any skill

Student Story
Nasimat Opeyemi Bucoye, LIC student

"I chose to study at Liverpool International College (LIC) because I knew the city of Liverpool itself is peaceful and a good environment to study in. It is very student orientated city with a vibrant culture so this is a perfect place for me to study.

On my first visit to LIC I was very impressed with the college campus. It has everything you need to learn to your fullest potential.

I am really enjoying my classes and what I like most about them is that the classes aren’t too big so you still get to have a lot of interaction with your tutors who are very friendly and always willing to help. I have learnt different ways to work and using them in my every day study which I think will definitely help me improve my grades.

I am really looking forward to using these skills that I have learnt at LIC when I go to university because I feel that I am very well prepared for university life and this is all down to studying at this college. "

Nasimat Opeyemi Bucoye is from Nigeria and studied a Foundation Certificate in Business, Law and social science at Liverpool International college.
