Foundation Certificate in Computing
This course teaches students a broad range of computing knowledge and skills. The Foundation classes will help students to reach GCE A-level equivalent standard.
The Foundation Certificate is perfect for consolidating your computing knowledge and for preparing you to study in higher education. Our Foundation course will provide you with the best possible preparation for your time at the University.
Subject outline
Your Foundation classes prepare you for further education at Nottingham Trent University. All Foundation Certificate courses at Nottingham Trent International College contain the following elements:

- Subject modules
English Language tuition is also provided for Foundation Computer students who need it.
Academic skills modules
Develop key academic skills including research, writing, presentation and analysis skills during your foundation computer level studies.
Subject modules
These cover the basics of your chosen area of study during your Foundation classes so that you have the knowledge you need to progress to NTU. On completion you will progress to more specialised study that focuses on the topics and skills that you will need most in your chosen undergraduate degree course.
All modules are taught with your progression to Nottingham Trent University in mind, and have been specially designed to meet the needs of international students.
Our computing courses have fantastic facilities
All Computing courses are taught at Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus, a short bus ride from the main City campus. £8 Million has been spent on new computing facilities and equipment in the new Computing and Informatics building.
Foundation classes progress to Nottingham Trent University
Successful completion of the Foundation Certificate in Computing guarantees progression to the Diploma in Computing at Nottingham Trent International College and then Year 2 of a Nottingham Trent University degree.

- Skills for Study 1, 2 and 3
- Language for Study 2 and 3*
- Algorithms, Programming and Data Representation
- Business and the Business Environment
- Introduction to AV Media and Technology
- Introduction to Multimedia and Communication Studies
- Interpreting the Visual World
*Three-term students will also take a Language for Study 1 and additional hours for Language for Study 2 and 3.
