English Preparation

Do you need to improve your English language skills and build confidence in using English?

Nottingham Trent International College (NTIC) offers English language preparation for international students as part of its Foundation Certificate, International Year One and Pre-Master’s courses.

Pre-Master’s students

Tier 4 visa regulations specify that Pre-Master’s students need to have a minimum IELTS level of 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

NTIC offers English tuition to Pre-Master’s students to help them achieve these results. These English courses are highly intensive and have one goal: to help you achieve the required level of English in order to study at a postgraduate level in the UK.

What is involved in an English preparation course?

This is a specialised intensive English course with a strong focus on exam preparation and individual attention. You will receive 24-hours tuition per week, plus self study and access to online exam practice. These mock exams will identify any weaknesses in your skills that will then be addressed in tutorials.

The course finishes with a Secure English language Test (SELT) that is arranged and paid for by the International College.

Foundation and International Year One students

Our English courses are designed to fully understand and meet your language requirements. Our English courses provide you with 20-hours per week of interactive classroom-based tuition and a further 20-hours per week of guided self-study.

The courses feature a combination of interesting tasks to enable you to put your English language knowledge into context. Assignments include language project work in the local community and on-line activities, as well as preparation for classes.

You will also be assigned a personal Learning Support Tutor who you will meet at regular intervals to discuss your progress and to receive help with areas you find most difficult. Throughout your studies you will receive enhanced support from the Student Services team to ensure that you benefit from their support for the duration of your studies.
