This course provides international students with a guaranteed progression route to an undergraduate business degree at UWE Bristol.
Academic skills modules
On your International Year One course you will develop key academic skills including research, writing, presentation and analysis.
The academic skills modules included in the 2-term business award are:
- Skills for Study 2
- Language for Study 3
During your course you will cover core subjects of your chosen area of study. You will then progress to more specialised studies that are core to your chosen undergraduate degree course. All modules are specifically designed to meet the needs of international students looking to study in the UK. The International Year One in Business is taught specifically with your progression to UWE Bristol in mind.
The subject modules included in all 2-term business awards are:
- Financial Reporting
- Organisational Behaviour
- Quantitative Methods for Business
- Management Accounting
Students on the financial pathway will also study
- Management Accounting
- Financial Analysis
While students on the business pathway will study
- Marketing in the Operational Context
Academic and language support
Our courses are integrated with academic and language support to help you achieve the required level to progress to university.
Enhanced University preparation
Students who would like 3 terms of preparation for university with a flexible start date, but already have a high level of English, can join an Enhanced University preparation course. Additional modules in these courses include:
- Personal Development and Pre-Study skills
- Basic Computing skills
- Introduction to British Society and Culture
- Introduction to Tech Corp
You can progress to year two of the following degrees at UWE Bristol when you successfully complete the International Year One in Business:

English language ability
You will need to show proof of your English language ability by taking an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam.
According to new UKVI regulations, all students must meet the minimum English requirements for study in the UK. Our courses include academic and language support to help you get the English language level and academic skills required to progress to university.
